Group Reflection

After discussing for almost a week, we decided that Hybel & Weaver's definition of communication is the closest to our understanding. We believe that Hybel & Weaver's way of definition of communication is the best among the best. In their definition, communication is a type of interaction that involves with other person which we use to share information and beliefs. This method has been used since a long time ago. For example, when teachers teaches their student, they are interacting with all the students through verbal communication to share information. Hybel & Weaver also said that through communications, we could exchange ideas and feelings with each other. When we are trying to express our love to someone we love, we will try to show our sincerity through a sweet and lovable type of communication to capture their heart. When we're angry, we raise our voice. This is also one of the type of communication that is defined by Hybel & Weaver as a form of exchanging feelings for one another. The part of the definition made by Hybel & Weaver is communication also could be used to make plans and solve problem interpersonally whether it is in a form of small groups a team or even a media. Through communication, we need a two-way communication. To solve a problem in our daily life, we exchange ideas and brainstorm ideas with one another and through communication, we could express our ideas and command people to execute the plan. Media is also a form of communication and this type of communication is very good as it could used be spread information to the entire world easily at a very quick pace.

Communication is a process where the information or idea is transferred into other people which can change the understanding and opinion of a person finally achieve a same outcome among them. When there is communication between two or more person they will eventually start to change opinion and information which lead them to think more and automatically change their understandings about what they have been discussed. For example, when we have a meeting or discussion we will have to voice out our opinion so that everybody that take part will understand what is there to be addressed or discussed about and come out for a conclusion.

Stars Group

Hey peeps!!!
We are the Stars team!! :)

1) In our last lecture,we have been taught about the definitions of communication. We were exposed to the definitions of communication from different sources which are Hyber & Weaver, Julia Wood, Devito and Wikipedia.
After a long term discussion, we have made our decision. We chose the definition by Julia Wood.
According to Julia Wood, communication is a systematic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings.
The reason why we chose the definition by Julia Wood is because the definition was much clearer and made us understand more about what is communication is actually compared to the rest of the definition given.  From the definition given, we also understood that communication does not involve only talking, but it also involves interpreting symbols, expressions, body language and lots more. The definition by Julia Wood about communication is also very interesting. It also made us very clear that an effective communication is always a two way communication. Further more, the definition also made us understand the importance of communication is our daily life.

2) Communication is seen as an important part in our life. Communication is a process of sharing information, ideas and feelings. It is also a way to convey message from a person to another. Effective communication is said to occur when there is two way communication. Communication also involves written words, body language, personal mannerism style, even to the physical environment we are surrounded.

Communication ?????????

Hello everyone !
In our previous lecture , we have studied about the definition of communication.
Our gorgeous lecturer gives us the definition of communication from four different sources which are Hyber And Weaver, Julia Wood, Devito and Wikipedia
She asked us to decide which definition is easier to understand.
So guess what was our choice???

So...
So..
So...(truttuutttutt *sounds of trumpets* )
So our choice is Hyber and Weaver, Julia Wood, Devito,,,,,WIKIPEDIA !!
 (*a round applause*)

Have you ever thought that our final choice would be Wikipedia ?????

Actually, we did choose Wikipedia..
So guys stay there!
Come, and let us show you more about the definition of communication set by Wikipedia.

Why would we choose WIKIPEDIA ???????
Can you tell me why ???
Why you didn't know at all??Come on guys
it's okay :)
Allow me tell you why we chose Sir Wikipedia ....

The definition of communication is the interpretation in the most general way, but yet still specific enough to give a clear picture. So, its complete and easy definition. As compared to other definitions, wikipedia defined the most important aspect of communication such as, the ways people exchange ideas and what is used in order to create an effective communication. Not only that, it can be clearly understood Wikipedia's definition of communication that it is about conveying information. Instead of sending and receiving messages as defined by Devito.

Besides she asked us to decide which of the definition is clearer based on our understanding, she also asked us to give the definition of communication using our own words.back

So we resolve that the definition of communication is
the way of transferring information to the recipient and ensuring that the recipient receive the message and can give feedback.

Our lecturer had said the communication is something that you do and you get the feedback. It is something like :
"When you slap a person, and she/he will give the double or triple slap for you".
You can view the picture below and get more understanding about Communication.

Definition of communication

       DEFINITION OF COMMUNICATION

Everyday, we need to communicate whether in formal or informal situations. This means, communication is very crucial in our lives as a human. Even animals have their own way of communication.

Somehow, in communication there is effective and ineffective communication. Effective communication can bridge the gap between all walks of life without consider where are you from or how old are you. It rely on the sender, message conveyed and the responds given as a feedback to the communication. Simply put, it is all about aim of communication that is achieved.

On the other side, ineffective communication is when there is no feedback given by the recipient. This may occur as the effect of distraction from the environment or unclear message given by the sender. Ineffective communication also may cause misunderstanding between people.

In summary, the meaning from our group is :

Communication means how we interact, share or exchange any kind of information such as ideas, feelings, thoughts and believe with others through signal, media and speech and how does the recipient give their feedback.

What is the definition for 'communication' ?

Communication is important for human to express their ideas and deliver their thought to others. What will happen if the communication is ineffective? Will recipients understand the messages that sent by you? Will they give feedback to you?

 Example for ineffective communication

Effective communication is the interaction between two or more people which the messages of the sender is acceptable by the recipient and get feedback  by the talking, signals, body gestures and others.
